Dust Off The Home Gym Equipment For The Home Gym Wildlife Challenge
Getting personally active to help tackle biodiversity loss is a great New Year resolution!
One of the big-ticket items to get people through the pandemic has been home fitness equipment. There has been no shortage of articles about how to create the ultimate home gym or guides to the best fitness equipment. A constant stream of celebrities have shared their home-based workouts and wellness routines.
So, it is no surprise that the global home fitness equipment market has grown by 17.6% this last year, from $8.42 billion in 2020 to $9.9 billion in 2021. The growth is mainly due to the COVID-19 outbreak that has led to lockdowns, social distancing, remote working, and gym closures. Add to that, the online fitness content and growing number of personal fitness Apps and you get the picture; people have invested to stay active during the pandemic. And with the emergence of the Omicron variant this is unlikely to change.

Certainly, there is real need to minimise the risk of COVID lockdown, sedentary lifestyles. Because as the saying goes “if you don’t use it, you lose it”, be it muscle mass, strength, flexibility or energy. In Australia, for example, there is one minimal trauma fracture every 2.9 minutes and a recent US study concluded more than 20% of the adults are affected by chronic pain.
So, are you one of the many thousands of people who invested in home-fitness equipment to keep active during the pandemic? Maybe you have always had a home gym? Whatever your fitness history, are you interested in a challenge? The Home Gym Wildlife Challenge.
